The New York Times posted The Year in Pictures today. As always, it’s pretty awe inspiring to see their selection of photographs from the last twelve months. There’s never a shortage of jaw dropping images in my opinion. There’s even audio commentary with some of the images which is nice for some additional insight. Some of my favorite photos didn’t make the cut so I wanted to post them here. Enjoy! Photo © Ambroise Tezena

Kobe Bryant / Dunking
was sweet revenge! After last season’s upset in Game Six of the 2008 NBA Finals, the Christmas day match up between the Boston Celtics and Los Angeles Lakers was easily the most anticipated game of the 2008-09 season so far. With Boston off to the best start in NBA history (27/2) and on a 19 game winning streak, the Lakers, with the best record in the West (25/5) had something to prove. Thankfully, Santa brought me exactly what I what I asked for. Watching the Lakers beat Boston and end their 19 game winning streak was better than getting a Red Ryder BB Gun on Christmas morning.
